Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has asked politicians in Nigeria to strive towards peace in the forthcoming elections, urging them to ensure that no one dies on their behalf. The former President made the call on Monday at a meeting with Niger Delta Youth Leaders in Yenagoa. He urged the young leaders to embrace peace and shun violence ahead of the rescheduled general elections. “Let us conduct the election peacefully, people should vote based on their conscience”. Jonathan said everyone who is true to his or her conscience would be able to know where to pitch their tents. He encouraged the young people not to be induced, stressing that nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of Nigerians. President Muhammadu Buhari says the Nigerian government has employed over 8.75 million Nigerians under various empowerment schemes. Giving a breakdown of the figure, he said seven million Nigerians were engaged under the N- Power scheme, which represented 70 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries, while 1.75 million others were recruited under the National Safety Net Programme for the poor and the vulnerable. THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent  National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sanction  President Muhammandu Buhari for allegedly bringing in people from outside the country to influence the election in his favour. Chairman of  PDP, Uche Secundus, made the call in Enugu during the PDP rally for election of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other candidates of the party in the 2019 elections. He accused Buhari of planning to influence the election in his favor and called on INEC to sanction Buhari over alleged plans to influence the election.
