NDDC sets to empower two million IDPs in Niger Delta-Executive Director Project

By Titus Innocent The acting Executive Director Project (EDP), Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Cairo Ojougboh, has revealed that the Commission will soon embark on the resettlement of over two million victims of the humanitarian crisis in the Niger Delta. Ojougboh, who made the disclosure after courtesy visit on the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fasola in Abuja, lamented that though budgetary allocation has been fixed, there is urgent need to help resettle the over 280 households submerged by floods that occurred from October. “The most important thing is that the NDDC has stabilised, functioning properly and well-focused to what it is supposed to do. Each of the departments is well repositioned for the greater delivery of services to the people. Stop politicizing the public service in the state--- Governor Seriake Dickson

Speaking while inaugurating the new Head of Service, Mrs. Biobelemoye Charles-Onyeama, in Government House, Yenagoa, the governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fidelis Soriwei, said he had laid a foundation for a professional civil service. Dickson said: “The Civil service should not be part of the political fray in the state. The civil service should not be treated as an arm of a political party. “It should be apolitical at all time. Missing Cash: Four arrested NSCDC back to post at Bayelsa Govt House

By Titus Innocent  Four personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) arrested over alleged theft at Bayelsa Government House, in Yenagoa have returned to their duty posts. Mrs Christiana Abiakam-Omanu, Bayelsa Commandant of NSCDC told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, said the NSCDC personnel were questioned and freed by the Police.  “You know whenever something happens, security personnel deployed are usually the first suspects and they were questioned and have since resumed work at their duty posts. “They are back to work as we speak while the investigation by the police continues. ”On our own at NSCDC we are conducting our independent investigations and there is no substantial issue to comment on at this time,” she said. An armed militia group invaded the King Koko Square at Nembe Ogbolomabiri and opened fire on hundreds of PDP supporters who had assembled there for the last Local Government campaign of the PDP Candidate, Douye Diri. While the gun wielding militia was mowing down innocent citizens who were in Nembe for the campaigns, another set of the hoodlums ambushed the party members and journalists at the Ogbolomabiri/ Bassambiri junction. Amnesty Boss accuses contractors of running away with mobilisation fees

By Titus Innocent The Amnesty Office will halt the activities of vendors who defraud the programme under various guises, Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty, Prof. Charles Dokubo, said on Wednesday. He accused contractors of running away with mobilisation fees paid to them, adding that he had stopped payment of 15 per cent mobilisation fees Dokubo said some fraudulent contractors were using multiple companies to source for contracts because of the 15 per cent mobilisation fees, which they collect and run away with. He denied being under probe, saying his visits to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was to assist the agency with information in their probe of the tenures of past Special Advisers on Amnesty Programme. By Titus Innocent Manuel Salvador Quevedo Fernandez, Venezuela’s People’s Minister of Petroleum and President of the OPEC Conference 2019, welcomed Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, His Excellency Timipre  Sylva and the Saudi Energy Minister, H.R.H Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman as the two make their debut appearance, today at the 177th Meeting of the OPEC Conference held in Vienna, Austria. In his opening address, Mr. Fernandez described Nigeria’s Sylva as “an oil industry veteran and will no doubt be a tremendous asset to the Conference.” Nigeria’s delegation also includes the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, who is attending the meeting in his capacity as Nigeria’s National Representative at #OPEC.
