Image
By Titus Innocent The Concerned Youth Leaders of the Niger Delta, on Saturday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the new board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, saying it would pave way for the commission to function effectively. Abulu (Delta state), the leaders expressed worry over the controversies characterizing the activities of the NDDC in recent times. APC used Fomer President Jonathan to achieve their victory- Gov Dickson

Image
By Titus Innocent Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has disclosed that he consciously took steps not to direct Bayelsans and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to defend themselves in the course of the Bayelsa governorship elections and after the declaration of David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner because he did not want the state to be destabilised. Dickson who insisted that the leaders of the APC in conjunction with the Federal Government, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies plotted to take-over Bayelsa by force, said results of votes declared by INEC especially in Ogbia, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s local government area were unrealistic. He expressed regrets that Former President Jonathan is not reading between the lines to see that APC leaders eulogising him, showing him respect and visiting him are only doing so to use him to give legitimacy to what they have done to Bayelsans and the P...

Bayelsa Poll : Cogent reasons why Bayelsans will elect David Lyon

Image
By Titus Innocent  Nigeria  Politics is not a game of sentiment but of numbers. Love and acceptability by the electorate who have the absolute power in electing their leaders is critical. There must be proof that the candidate has  the capacity to drive good governance which is built on equity, fairness and justice to all in respective of tribe and religion. This is a critical component of good governance in any civilized society. That is how leaders are assessed for their worthiness to occupy the position of leadership. This is one of the factors that have worked for David Lyon greatly in Bayelsa State, especially in the forthcoming November 16,  governorship election.   David Lyon has displayed a great  sense of love and unity to the people of Kogi State  for  more than a decade. David Lyon only believes in what any indigene of the state can offer for the development and the unity o...

Image
By Titus Innocent The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against deploying National Commissioners as well as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from other states for the November 16 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states. The party said in a statement yesterday through its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan that it already had a “due diligence report” on each of the commissioners.   “Our party recognises that while some are of clean records in their previous responsibilities, there are others who are known to be of questionable character and fared far below expectations in their responsibility.   “The PDP cautions the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to note that the deployment of officials with known integrity issues is capable of triggering crisis and jeopardizing the credibility of the electoral process. “It is also important to state that Kogi and Bayelsa electi...

Image
By Titus Innocent  The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to ignore the wild allegations being peddled against the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Seriake Dickson, by Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Bayelsa Campaign Organisation, Jonathan Obuebite, expressed shock at the statement by Nabena alleging that Dickson and his Deputy Chief of Staff were producing fake voter cards in Bayelsa ahead of the November 16 governorship election. “While it would have been proper to, once again, ignore the hallucinations of Nabena, it is important to react in order to avoid falling into the trap of the popular axiom that when lies are repeated and are unchallenged, they seem to share a boundary with the truth,” he said. The PDP noted that the APC Deputy Publicity Secretary was a victim of his own imagination which according to the party had pushed him into delu...

The decision of the court presided over by Justice Jane Iyang to deliver final judgment on the suit is however causing apprehension within the fold of the APC, as the ruling will be delivered just two days to the November 16th governorship election. Lokpobiri had    in the suit numbered FHC\YNG\C\100\19 applied for an order of perpetual injunction restraining APC, its officers, agents and privies from treating, presenting or holding out Lyon to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s candidate for the election. The plaintiff also sought an order of perpetua...
