President Tinubu Opens Nigeria Borders

Image
There is a speculation on Facebook and Twitter which has received reactions from many Nigerians online as some citizens prayed that God will touch the mind of President Tinubu to open the border. Many citizens, both learned and illiterates believed that the decision by former President Muhammadu Buhari to close the Nigerian borders was a major setback for the administration as it was closely related to the hike in prices of food items in the country. Nigeria, with a hopping population of 200 million highly depends on farm produces and, mostly staple foods from neighboring countries. However, insurgencies, leakages in Internally Generated Revenue, and the drive to promote locally made products were among the reasons that convinced former President Muhammadu Buhari to close the border. Although the speculation is on the rising trend, checks and contact made by the Round Table show that the presidency has not yet lifted the ban on the Nigerian borders. Once the ban on Nigerian borders is ...

By Yamo News, 26/04/2023 Campaigns should be issue based, no need to throw tantrums at ourselves. There is none without flaw, we have all had our shortcomings in the past. But the past is yesterday, today is almost gone, tomorrow a brighter future awaits. We find ourselves in a society where people only remember you for your mistakes no matter the number of good you must have done. For a tree bearing fruit to blossom, it seed must rotten and die. For in death, a new life is reborn. Opu-Abadi is ready. - Apostle Bodmas Prince Kemepadei.

Silga Ward 14 Youth leader condemned Yekina Nabena

A Staunch Southern-Ijaw Ward 14 Youth Leader of the APC has lambasted Yekini Nabena A renowned activist and youth leader in Southern-Ijaw Ward 14 of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kalasino Titus , has chastised the former spokesman of the APC for saying he is happy that Chief David Lyon was not sworn-in  as Governor of Bayelsa Sate in 2020. He condemned the former spokesman statement that Lyon did not get the party’s gubernatorial ticket based on merit. Lyon is a committed and supportive party man whose popularity with the members of APC in the state fetched him the party’s ticket in the last gubernatorial election. According to Kalasino Titus, Yekini Nabena’s taking great pleasure of David Lyon’s sacking as governor-elect by the supreme court verdict only depicts him as antiparty man and a political buccaneer who benefits in inciting violence and division in the party. He also stated that Mr Nabena, is a frivolous politician who has no grip in his ward and the state. I...

Why PMS still sells at #145 in Bayelsa,DPR boss explains.

Image
Following complains by residents of Bayelsa State on social media over the failure of filling stations to comply with Federal Government’s directive to sell Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at ₦125 per litre, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), has called for calm, saying it would take a while for dealers to adjust to the new pump price. Speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Capital, the State Controller of the DPR, Mr George Ene-Ita, he has sent a taskforce round to ascertain why filling stations have not complied with the directive, and found that most of the filling stations have not sold out their old stock that is pegged at ₦145 per litre. But when  we went round to monitor the situation, only filling stations operated by the NNPC have adjusted their metres to N125, causing an unusual queue of vehicles. Explaining further, Mr Ene-Ita said “from yesterday we started visiting some of the retail outlets but to be honest with you, what the marke...

Former appointees storm Dickson's home to lobby for appointment.

Image
Former appointees storm Dickson's home to lobby for appointment. Former governor of Bayelsa State resident has become a place where all politicians go to inorder to secure an appoint in Diri's led government. It can also be recalled that George Turner's name was replaced by Benson Agadaga due to Long time rancour between the duo ( Dickson and Turner). Former President Goodluck Jonathan has lost his influence in this present government as political bigwigs now troop in to Dickson's residence on daily basis instead of Goodluck's residence. The former president worked against Douye Diri in the PDP primary election which Dickson stood for him despite the mass defection of party stalwarts agains Timi Alaibe whom is the choice candidate of the former president and his loyalists. Dickson is now the golden fish of the PDP led government. So many failed-former political office holders that even worked against the party during gubernatorial elections are als...

Will Gov Douye Diri's reconciliatory move yield the desired result?

Image
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has started his new administration on a reconciliatory note by extending a hand of fellowship to contending political forces in the state. But will the move yield the desired result?  Mr.Douye Diri, the 5th governor of Bayelsa State, has upon assumption of office, been trying to define his administration as a one bent on unifying the contending political forces in the state along the path of peace and development. But this is expected in the light of the backlash and protests that trailed his emergence as governor following a Supreme Court verdict which annulled the electoral mandate of the then governor-elect, David Lyon because    his running mate, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, was guilty of presenting false information regarding his certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission    (INEC). Lyon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate had defeated Diri, the Peoples Democratic Pa...

IYC has warned politicians to desist from politics of bitterness and violence

Image
The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Worldwide has warned politicians in Bayelsa State against resorting to violence, following the Supreme Court ruling which declared Douye Diri as governor. IYC said desperate politicians bent on causing chaos due to the Supreme Court ruling should desist in the interest of the state and the entire Niger Delta region. Recall that the apex court had sacked David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the Governor-Elect of Bayelsa State while declaring Diri as winner of the election. Diri was subsequently sworn-in as governor of the state. Following Diri’s emergence, IYC alleged that some aggrieved politicians were planning a coordinated attack of oil installations in the state. In a statement by its Secretary-General, Alfred Kemepado, the council urged those aggrieved to seek democratic procedures rather than resorting to violence. The statement reads: “If any person or party feels aggrieved by the Supreme court judgments...
